Howard Greenebaum founded Howard Insurance Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency, nearly 20 years ago in Colorado. Today, Howard Greenebaum and his wife Hilary continue to build upon a foundation of personal service and trust by providing Oregon seniors and their families, expert knowledge and unmatched friendly customer service.

As an independent insurance agency, Howard Insurance Agency works hard to maintain our commitment to professionalism and personal service. As an independent insurance agency, our loyalty is to you, our clients and their families. Our experience allows us to better serve you regarding our various Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans, Part D Prescription Drug Plans and other health insurance products.

From day one, back in 1999, Howard’s mission was to empower seniors on Medicare by educating them on the system and offering a wide variety of top quality supplemental products to meet their specific needs. That mission is still strong today. Over the years, Howard Insurance Agency for Seniors helped thousands of seniors save money. 

As the owner of Greenebaum Discount Jewelers, Howard’s travels took him to India, Israel, and Europe, where he purchased diamonds directly from the diamond cutting companies. This allowed his three stores to compete successfully with the large chains of jewelry stores. During these 30 years, Howard also gained a US patent on a security system that he invented and sold to stores around the world. He also found time to coach high school basketball and pursue his favorite sports.

Howard died in October 2022. He experienced a few years of declining health then a sudden short illness. He is missed by all, yet his legacy continues today.

Howard and I have been together since 1986! My first career was in Health Education and Gerontology. In the late 1970s – early 1980s, I worked at one of the first Adult Day Health Care Center in the US. I then became an elementary school teacher, eventually became a middle school assistant principal, and instructor at the University of Colorado Denver.

When I was looking for a career change, I approached Howard to join him in the insurance industry. He felt that with my education background, and deep care for individuals and their well-being, I would be a good fit with the Howard Insurance Agency. He was right; this has been a great fit for me! Helping people navigate through a completely new phase in life, and transitioning to additional Medicare health insurance, has been very rewarding because I like to help people and their families. I love hearing about you, your unique needs, and how to best meet your health insurance needs.

I have devoted much of my my life to teaching. I will work hard for you as I worked hard as an educator. In 1996, I was awarded a $60,000 Fellowship to pursue my Master’s degree. In 2009, I received the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year Award when I earned my doctorate in Education. These credentials, demonstrating diligence, attest to my ability to assist you when dealing with your Medicare.

In my spare time, I like to walk our perfectly adorable dogs (Henry and Ranger), garden, and read. I volunteer at the Beaverton Main Library and also serve on the Beaverton Committee on Aging. The goal of the committee is to provide a forum within city government for seniors to communicate with the city’s senior community and city officials.
